Well, her umbilical stump fell off on Tuesday but we just got around to giving her a tub bath tonight. Unfortunately, we had our hands too full with a slippery baby to get any pictures during the bath, but the ones we got afterward definitely make up for it!

Wow - is it tomorrow already? Sorry for the delay in posting - somehow I just never could find the time to tear myself away from our newest family member! But right now she's sleeping so I figured I would post a quick note and some new pictures.
Here is one of many pictures of baby and daddy crashed on the couch together. Notice the magazine on Mike's head - silly daddy, no time for reading!
Aurora is doing just fine...she had her first appointment with the pediatrician today and he says she's still a keeper. It looks like she inherited her mom's sensitive skin though - she's got a little bit of irritation near her bellybutton from where we used an alcohol pad to clean her cord.

Since many of you have expressed curiosity about our little girl's name, I figured I would explain it here! The name 'Aurora Jane' did not come from any family names that I know of - I just thought of it one day and I really like the way it sounds. 'Aurora' is the Latin word for dawn, and is also the name of the ancient Roman goddess of dawn. 'Jane' is a Hebrew name meaning "God is gracious"- and who could doubt that when they look at her? (Okay, so I'm biased!) Luckily, Mike had no objections to her name - although he says he gets to name our future son "Augustus Septimius". We might have to discuss that one!

Mama and baby are doing fine, and will post more details tomorrow!Well, we woke up this morning and decided that rather than hang around the house waiting for this baby to join us, we would go out and enjoy our day instead! We went to the grocery store and stocked up on food for the next couple of weeks, then we met the Coles in town for lunch, and then we went to see Night at the Museum. We figured its the last time we'll actually get out to the theatre for a while, so we took advantage of it! The movie was very cute - I would recommend it. Now we're back at home and there's still no sign that the baby is going to come out on her own tonight, so barring any unforeseen changes we'll be heading to the hospital tomorrow afternoon to celebrate her birthday. Hopefully everything will go smoothly and we'll be back at home as soon as possible with more pictures and stories for the blog. Keep your fingers crossed!
Well, still no baby here.. and of course this weekend is supposed to be the coldest in recent history (and windy, too) so I can't go out and walk as much as I want to since I'm still getting over this cold. So I've been cooped up in the house all day, vacuuming, doing chores, walking randomly around the house singing to the dogs - I may be losing my mind a little bit. But I just finished making some oatmeal cookies and I've dug out some old dvds from the garage, so I guess we'll go eat cookies and watch movies till she decides to join us :)
Well, I just got done at the doctor's office - the good news is she's still in position and ready to come out. The bad news is, SHE'S NOT COMING OUT! I'm still 0 cm and 0 % effaced. So, since she's overdue, he's giving her until Tuesday the 16th to come out on her own. If she hasn't made her debut by then, he'll be inducing her at 1:30 pm. All your thoughts and good vibes helped her to turn last week, so send some good thoughts and vibes to convince her to come out now!
Still no baby.. I've been walking all over the neighborhood, the house, the backyard - to no avail. Our (hopefully last) doctor's appointment is tomorrow morning, so with any luck we'll find out how much longer we have to wait to meet her! Yesterday I received a big box full of baby gifts from my Grandma - here are some pictures of the new bassinette she bought and the blankets she made for her first great-grandbaby.
No baby yet! But she's been a lot more wiggly these past couple of days.. I think she knows its almost time to come out. I've been cleaning and doing random little jobs around the house, trying to stay on my feet and walk around inside as much as possible since its so windy and cold outside. And Mike has been off work the past 3 days, so he finally finished the bathroom!! Well, the grout still needs to cure for 21 days and then he can seal it, but as far as I'm concerned its done! It looks really great in there - he did an awesome job. And I realized I never put any final pictures of the nursery up here - so I decided to go ahead and take some. Here you go! Flipper has flipped again! Surprisingly, she's now in the right position and ready to come out on her own time. The doctor just recommends that I walk, walk, walk to get things going. Unfortunately, I've been pretty sick with a cold this past week so I haven't been doing much walking (or anything else) - but I'm starting to feel better and the weather is lovely so I'll get out and start pounding the pavement today. Thank you everyone for your good thoughts & prayers - looks like they worked!
